The Importance of The Word

If someone heard of the greatest storybook in the world they would go out and read it or buy it immediately.   The one book, though that it seems, that often is overlooked is the Bible.  Even though it is the greatest selling book in the world it often is the last book that one wants to read on a regular basis.  The Word of God, the Bible, is the most exciting book one can ever read.   There are several reasons for that statement that should be considered.  The first and foremost is that the Lord is the author.  We find this referred to in 2 Tim. 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, [17] that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. From this one scripture we can easily see the other reasons for the importance of the Word of God.  The second reason is that it is profitable for doctrine; in other words, it helps us in learning the Word. When one asks a question about the Lord and His ways, what better resource to go to than the Word of God, which is full of wisdom and knowledge. The third and fourth are seemingly the most unique in that the Word will show us when we are going the wrong way or that we need to be corrected.  The nature of man certainly needs to be corrected at times and His Word will go into the heart of man and place the corrections where needed.  The fifth remark made by Paul absolutely is the one that grips the heart of everyone that is interested in living the right life here on this earth.   The instruction of righteousness is awesome.  How someone can live a godly life in a world that is so unrighteous.  That is what makes the saint so different! The lifestyle lived through the instruction of the Word of God.  We can go to the Word and find out how to handle situations and how to be over-comers in every circumstance.  Being complete is the goal of every person on this earth.  To complete life, to complete a task, to be finisher not just a starter and to have knowledge of just how to do all those mentioned.  The Word instructs us on how to finish what we have been able to start.   We are to grow into the fullness of Christ which is the Word given to us. (Ephes. 4:12-13) Being equipped for every good work is exciting and also very comforting.  The Word of God gives us all that we need to know about life and its ways.  Why not read the most influential and effectual book on this earth, it was authored in heaven you know!
