The Place of Prayer

When the Lord was instructing the disciples on prayer, He mentioned a place, precisely called – The Prayer Closet (room). This “closet (room)” or place of prayer is very important to every believer.  Now there may not be a specific “posture” of prayer but there seems to be a specific “place” of prayer.  But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6 The desire of anyone who prays is to communicate to the Lord their supplication and thanksgivings.  In the Book of 1 John chapter 5 we read a very interesting verse.  Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. [15] And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15 The point that needs to be made here is that the confidence that one has when one prays is to the utmost.  Communicating the will of God in your prayers takes into account the knowledge of God.  The key effect to this is getting to the “place” of prayer and also the right “position”, spiritually speaking, in prayer.  When Jesus prayed He would go to “the” place of prayer.  Praying to the Father also implies that you are concentrating on whom you are praying to.  In other words, you are communicating from your prayer closet (room), the secret place of prayer, to the Lord of your life. He is interested in what you have to say and desires you to be in the right “place” of prayer, both physically and emotionally.  How confident are you when you pray?  How bold are you to pray the right prayers in the right place?  The Father of Lights wants to answer you openly and He will answer you.  Have faith in His Word and be confident that He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly and above what you can ask or think. (Ephes. 3:20) The knowledge of prayer, both the style and the approach, can be learned through experience.  The best location for any experience is the place of obedience and trust.  Go and find your “place” and “position” and seek Him and He will answer you openly of what you have asked of Him secretly.
