The Great Escape
Have you ever wondered why people stop serving God? Why someone would even look back? Why a person that has been renewed and restored to the right relationship with God would ever look back? My statement to all is this – Don’t go back! Go forward in His Grace. We are saved and sanctified by His Spirit and we are renewed daily by His Word. The Book of Proverbs makes a wonderful statement to those with “spiritual” understanding. Proverbs 23:10 Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless: [KJV]. The wisdom expressed here is that we are not to forget the markings of the Lord that our fathers had and we are to glean from the ultimate blessings that they received in their labors of love toward us. Many have returned to those landmarks with complaints and unwarranted remarks of disdain and criticism. The Lord provided for us an escape – a way of escape! He has declared from His Throne of Grace that we are free and set at liberty by the Blood of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit. The Word states great truths about escaping from the grips of the enemy and rejoicing in the presence the Lord. Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. [KJV]. The “path” of life leads away from death into His marvelous light. We realize that He has provided a “way” a “path” and “escape” for us from sin and fear. How can we escape these things if we do not find God? Well, He knows that we really do not have the “know-how” on how to find Him so He has found us in our despair and in our sin. He loved us anyway and made an “escape” for us from hell and death. Genesis 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. [KJV]. There is a real statement here:
(1) He brought them forth.
(2) The command to choose life.
(3) Trust and do not look back.
(4) Do not stay where you were found: MAKE A CHANGE!
(5) Come up where you will not be consumed.
Come into His presence where sin cannot dwell and the enemy cannot enter. Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. [KJV]
