His Word

God’s Word is alive and powerful and should never be listened to or looked upon in vain.   The Lord has spoken to men of old and now to those in the time that we live.  He is not speaking now as though He has never spoken before. In the Book of Hebrews the Word is described as a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12).   The cuts and opens up the hearer so the work of God will be done in the individual or individuals that are listening.   The Word can and will go where ‘man’ cannot go!  Praise God for that – Amen!   The Word discerns and maintains value in an individual.  We can count on God in all things that He promises.  His Word is pure and true.  In the Book of James the Word declares to us that if we listen and turn from what we hear then we will be like a person who looks in a mirror and then turns from the mirror and forgets what he looks like (James 1:23).  That is almost to hard to believe!  How could someone forget how they look.  Especially in this world of vanity that we live?  That is just the point that the Holy Spirit is making in the epistle.  How can we hear God’s Word and not do God’s Word?   One person may say God always asks for great accomplishments.  That is so true!  But God also supplies great provision – like FAITH!  The Word declares that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17).   So if you want to accomplish great things for God,  you need to hear His Word.  Simple faith in a promise from God can move mountains and defeat devils.

His message is still accomplishing what He sends it forth to accomplish. Lord’s statement to Isaiah: He said His Word was like the rain and snow that comes down from heaven (Isaiah 55:10). God also spoke to Isaiah and stated that His Word would go and accomplish that which He sends it to do. He continued and said that it would not return unto Him void or empty (Isaiah 55:11)! What does this mean?  It means that there is plenty of Word for you to listen to and also enough for you to have FAITH to accomplish the task that God has given you.  Have you noticed lately that we are not in a drought?  Our society as we know it now may be in a deep turmoil but He is raining on us. It is raining His Word. Put away the umbrella and get wet.  He has given us His Word and we can trust in Him!
