Let’s Be Friends

Just as anyone goes through life seeking to be recognized God Himself, desires for His creation to recognize His Holiness and presence. The main reason Jesus came to this earth was to embrace mankind and reconcile them back to the Father. (2 Corinthians 5:17-18) Having been reconciled to God through Christ brings the constant presence of God in the heart of each believer. God is speaking to each one on this earth and saying through Christ…”Let’s be friends.” Friendship is vastly important to the human character. Everyone wants friendship and certainly does not want to be lonely. Loneliness can cause severe emotional characteristics. To consider God as one that is distant and not reachable is total contrary too the characteristics that are represented in His Word. He gave us His Son Jesus to bridge the gap between fallen humanity and the One true Holy God.

God desires companionship with His creation and the catalyst used for this was the Cross at Calvary. Man was not reaching for God but God reached to man. Jesus died for sinners and gave us the opportunity to be friends with God. A friend that can be trusted and a friend that can be counted on. In a world where one may asked the question, can I trust trust? Where so many have been left alone in difficult times or let down when they needed someone to give them encouragement and support. God is the One that will not leave you alone (Hebrews 13:5) He will never change for He is unchangeable and He fails not! (Malachi 3:6; Zephaniah 3:5)

Jesus continues in His priesthood that does not change (Hebrews 7:24) and His promises continue to generation to generation. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24) Going through life “friendless” is not God’s plan for anyone…. The moments of reconciliation are some of the best times in a believers life. Old things pass away and all things become new. Loneliness goes and companionship is received in the heart of both God and the person who has reached back to God through Christ. Jesus took the quality time to tell His disciples that they are not slaves but friends and that whatever they ask in His name the Father will do it! The friend of Christ does whatever He commands…. (John 15:13-15) Christ has proven His friendship by laying down His life for humanity. The wonders of God’s love can be defined through friendship, trust and consistent companionship.

There are so many lonely people on this earth and even in your own neighborhood. There may even be a lonely person in your church who has not really reached back to God. Be the catalyst of friendship (reconciliation) for the ministry of reconciliation is given to all believers…(2 Corinthians 5:18-19) There does not need to be one who has not been reconciled to God. Those that are now ambassadors for reconciliation should minster reconciliation to all. (2 Corinthians 5:20-21) For not only is God the friend that sticks closer that a brother, He has brought us all into right standing (righteousness) with Him.
