Stability in A Storm
Life’s uneasy moments swell up like a wave and can overtake the strongest of characters. The most effectual way to handle these moments are to be stable in your beliefs and also in focus of your destiny. Getting off course can bring a difficult recovery if you loose sight of the goal. There are storms that can be treacherous and very uncomfortable, trying even the strongest of faith. Jesus was secure in His convictions during the storms that the disciples went through. He was there but He showed the proper responses and the entitlement to victory. His foundation was secure and His grip on destiny was unbreakable.
These moments of life do arrive no matter how hard one would try to stay in the safe harbor! The beauty of life offers the knowledge of a sure and steadfast hope that is an anchor to the soul. (Hebrews 6:19) The mention of a torrent storm brings most to the place of wonder if they will make it through it. The Lord when on the boat crossing the sea to the other shore slept, (Matthew 8:23-25) for He knew, who was controlling the storm and what His faith could conquer. The disciples on the other hand had been with the Lord for some time now and witnessed His power and knew of His destiny and steadfast focus. The knew of His stability and faith in the Father, yet, they feared with Him so close. This portrays the natural human character that even though confession of courage often is just that a confession, but not truthful. These disciples scurried to wake Him and yes, they found hope in Him and deliverance came, but at what cost? The cost of knowing they had little faith and could not be stable in the midst of a storm.
Jesus brought a wonderful analogy in (Matthew 7:24-28) when He explained about building on the right foundation. Those that do not hear what the Lord has to say about care and provision along with destiny will not be focused nor stable during or after the storm if they build on a sandy, weak, foundation of human thought. Where faith is designed to react to sight and not promise and hope. But the ones that have heard His Word and know how to trust Him in the moments of unsorted emotions and torrent times will be able to be focused and stable during and after the storm has ended. The reality is this, Jesus is present at all times and His promises are Yes and Amen to us that believe. (2 Corinthians 1:20) Storms help establish a stronger character and also test the levels of confessed faith.
Wherever you read the Word of God you will find woven through the pages of time exceptional faith and focus from people that simply believed God. Noah built a boat where there was no water or stream simply because God said to do it. (Genesis 6) Abraham was taking His son of promise to the altar and was ask to slay it before the Lord. (Genesis 22) He traveled to Mt. Moriah to do it because he also simply trusted and believed God. Yes, Jesus went to the altar of God, called Calvary and gave Himself (Isaiah 53:6-8) for all that have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God…(Romans 3:23) For when you were once in miry clay, He picked you out, put you on a sure foundation and has established your steps…(Psalm 40:1-3)
Each day stay focused and believe in what He has promised. Your foundation is His Word and you are destined to wonderful future plans and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11) Life will get stormy at times but be stable in character and trust in Him always. Stay the course!
