The Surety of Death

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, (Hebrews 9:27 ESV)

Life certainly has an interesting start beginning in the womb and then entering into the atmosphere where a life is acknowledged by all. The joy of the birth and the happiness of the gender which was hoped for by the parent all takes part in a life as we know it. The goals set by parents for the children and the maturity of the person into adulthood changes matters sometimes drastically…. The importance of life though begins at conception. When Jeremiah was called he was still in the womb of his mother. (Jeremiah 1:5) Life is so costly and important that God gave His Son Jesus to renew it to a place of holiness and justification. There is a purpose to this life and it is more than what skeptics or analysts can make of it. The eternal part of life which exist outside of the time limits placed on man….(Psalm 90:10) is the focal point just why men strive to live a good life. The saying ‘There is more to life than what meets the eye” truly is a statement of depth throughout history.

The question arises in every one’s heart: How am I doing personally with my life? Some may take time to answer that question and others may throw it off as though it is meaningless to consider such a thought. There is not time to consider such a thing when life runs by so rapidly. At least some may embrace that attitude. Well, the attitude and approach that should be more than considered is that of what God, the Creator of all life, knows about life. He looks at life here on this earth as a place of preparation and a short journey back to His promised eternity for mankind. There is a hope set before all and a forgiveness offered, for God shows no favoritism, He is not respecter of men! (Acts 10:34-35) The future we all have has been planned by God and it our choice to embrace the hope that is set before us. As the term life is expressed through daily activity the noticeable is quite apparent, life does have an end as we know it. (Job 12:12) The hope for a eternal life grows more desirable as youthfulness is distant and the body begins to wear down. (Psalm 102:11) The thoughts that enter in now is thoughts of judgment and concern for a clean heart and a renewed mind. Justice pertains to life and so does the days set before each of us. The weaknesses and strengths are measured out. (Psalm 39:4) The thought of judgment without defense will be considered by all men no matter what stature or position held in this life.

Drawing close to God in life and realizing that without God there really is not life at all which can be ascertained by just breathing. He constructs life and orders the steps of men. Each rebellious moment and each action of repentance will be judged by Him in depth and compassion. (2 Corinthians 5:10) This judgment is spoken to us through the scriptures and cannot be denied by “puffed up” knowledge and unbelief. For all will bow to Him in the final embracing of God to creation. (Philippians 2:9-11) The surety of judgment is certain to follow the certainty of death. There is hope for all as they journey through life from conception to the resurrection. The choice is man’s as to how he will stand in that day.
