Misconceived Ideas

Take care lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them; (Deuteronomy 11:16 ESV)

Becoming a Christian is not an idea that you came up with. It was presented to you through the gift of repentance. (Acts 11:18) It was made clear to you through the unction of the Holy Spirit. Your part was obeying the Lord and making the choice to repent with Godly sorrow. (2 Corinthians 7:10) The rest is on Jesus who paid the price for you to be able to call upon the Lord and be saved. (Romans 10:13) The commitment that you make to the Lord is an eternal one and one that must be lived out with grace and mercy. The love God has poured out in your heart is due to the fact of the justification shown you through Christ Jesus and your faith in Him. (Romans 5:1-5) God’s love for you is a gift and also it is a love that He took the first step to procure in your life. (1 John 4:9) Love is what motivates us to keep our strong focus on a loving God who has promised us eternity with Him. Jesus paved the way and opened the door for us to enter into God’s presence. In god’s presence there is virtue and life forevermore. How wonderful it is to know that the Lord Our God is always keeping us from harm and also blessing us as we come and as we go. (Psalm 121) His will is being processed through us here on this earth. The knowledge of the Lord can be found through prayer and His Word. Living everyday experiences as the Lord leads us will bring a maturity and fullness, which will guard our hearts. His depth of wisdom explodes in our hearts as we work out details each day that would only find answers through His wisdom. To have truth is one thing but to know the Truth is to be free in Christ, who is the Truth. (John 14:6)

Taking all that you can in from the Lord and from others can become difficult to your own character. Pride can sneak in and your prayer life will begin to trim down to less and less time spent with the Lord. The enemy of our soul waits fro these moments to break in and start the process of deception. He deceived Adams and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the place where God walked, in fellowship with them, in the cool of the day. (Genesis 3:8) Deception can come in the most delicate of places. It does not need a stage or atmosphere where there is sin reigning. All deception comes from the enemy and it will be sown into a heart that will tender the seed, which lies in wait to be watered. If the enemy can deceive you to worship false gods and ultimately him, he has accomplished his plan. Watch and pray lest you fall into temptation and that temptation takes you from the Lord your God. (Matthew 26:41; Colossians 4:2)

Never allow yourself to fall into the lies and deceptions of men either. Turn to God and listen for His direction in your life and He will lead you on the paths of righteousness. (Psalm 23:3) Keep seeking Him throughout each day and know that He is Lord of all. Joshua made the statement at the end of his ministry and leadership of the people of God… But as for me and my house we are going to serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15) Making the choice to be saved is yours and also making the choice to allow deception into your heart is yours also. Choose the Truth and live for God by setting your mind on things above…..(Colossians 3:1-4)
