What is amazing to you? Could it be a great shot by your favorite NBA player or a home run hit by your favorite MLB star. Could it be when you did something that you never thought possible but you did it? Maybe you witnessed something that happened at a circus or event, such as a skateboarder doing some phenomenal trick. When you watch television you see many amazing things that can challenge the concepts of your mind. They even have a reality show called the “Amazing Race” because of the, you guessed it, amazing things that happen during the race.

When I read the Word of God I am amazed at the stories that are written down, the many miracles that are written about peoples lives and God’s intervention in them. The transformation that comes through prayer is amazing to me also. The Lord will and can transform communities and even nations through dedicated prayer and fasting. Simple things like a blind man healed by Jesus in John 9 amazed the crowd, the religious factions, and the family. What is really amazing to me is that they were astounded that He did this and they knew not where he was from. The blind man spoke up and said “I was blind but now I see”. His words pierced the ears of the religious rulers and they could not tolerate this. Today we seem to have the same stuff going on. The amazement of the miracles about us and the religious rulers of our day trying to figure it out!

Jesus asked the blind man: Do you believe in the Son of Man?” (John 9:35 ESV) The blind man answered: “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?”(John 9:36 ESV) Jesus answers him by saying: “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” (John 9:37 ESV) The man who was once blind from birth and now sees responds: He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. (John 9:38 ESV) The crux of this story has basis and brings foundation to the fact that Jesus came into this world to open the blinded eyes of those who desire to see Him and worship Him. His actions would blind the eyes of the religious rulers because they were seeing through eyes of their own precepts and had blurred the lines of the Law. Now that is truly an amazing testimony by Jesus, the blind man, the family and the pharisees.

Jesus did just what He said He would do! He came into our lives and opened up our eyes. We all have been spiritually blind from birth, but when we are born again, we see! We see Him and worship Him. We declare His presence, we embrace His promise and we live by His power. We look through eyes that have been created to see Him in His glory. To see beyond the end of a day into the miraculous of tomorrow! No matter what any one may say, we can say with great confidence, that we were blind but now we see. This clarity of sight goes even deeper as we grow into the fullness of His love and mercy. He begins to reveal to us His character and His love abounds in us like the sounds of a mighty rushing river. His truth is revealed day by day and from faith to faith. Now we see because of His great love for us! He has anointed our eyes to see the Word active in the lives of the people of this world. Tell the amazing story of Jesus to all that will hear. Tell it to the lost and those needing to see. He came to open the blinded eyes and set the captives free. Break open those prison doors and loose those in bondage so they will fall and worship Him. They will see Him as He is!

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. (1 John 3:1-3 ESV)
