Have you ever thought of the importance of prayer? How prayer can affect your family and your friends? Most of all how prayer can affect you as a person? The Lord placed a wonderful key in our hands when He said that when and if we pray we can pray to Him. The prayer of a righteous man avails much. The “key” that He has given to us is the name of His Son, Jesus! The Lord spoke to His disciples and said that whatever they ask in His name the Father will do it! What a promise! When I read this in the Word of God I captured it in my spirit. Or should I say that it captured me. Prayer can open many doors and close the ones that God does not want you to go through. Everyone makes decisions and it seems in the society that we live in that those decisions are becoming more dynamic every day. We make decisions on where to send the children to school; where to look for work; where to buy a home; where to retire. These and others really need attentive prayer before the Father to be able to receive direction. One thing that I have noticed through prayer is that I can be assured of every decision made because I have gone to the Father. The Lord desires to hear from you and loves to communicate with His children. The Word speaks to us and invites us to call on the Lord. In Jeremiah 33:3 we are told to call upon the Lord and He will show us great things that we know not. Jesus said to pray and believe. When we pray God will hear us and respond. The Word also speaks to us to never give up asking till we receive and answer. Jesus said “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7 ESV) Again, we have great promise given to us. A promise to us that bold prayer will bring a response from God. The writer of the Book of Hebrews states that we can come boldly into the Throne of Grace and receive mercy and grace to help in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) Well, what are you waiting for? God wants to talk you and He also wants to listen to your request. Paul stated to the Philippians’ to bring all there prayer and supplications to the Lord with thanksgiving. (Philippians 4:6) Thank God that we have opportunity to pray and a key to enter the prayer closet.
