Revival is defined as an act or instance of reviving: the state of being revived: as a: renewed attention to or interest in something. (1): a period of renewed religious interest (2): an often highly emotional evangelistic meeting or series of meetings.   As we have watched the church mature in these past several years the thought would come to mind that revival is at a distance.  Hearing of great revivals in the past centuries and has caused the church to sense a great deal of anticipation and also failure.  How can this be?  How can the body of Christ be highly anticipating His return yet sense such deep failure?  Or maybe it is not failure at all but the lack of commitment to the call of God on the church.  We pray and fast for revivals but are we doing this in a religious manner or are we doing this in a relational manner.  Revival is the essence of the renewal that the church so desperately needs.  How does the church move into the spirit of revival?  Where does revival come from?  So many questions can cause confusion and make revival seem too difficult to obtain or have presence in the local church.  The importance of revival should never be looked at as a historical application that happened some time ago and really dose not fit into the church today!   We need revival and we need a revival of “Pentecostal Purpose.”  We must pray that the Lord will give us a measure of revival and enlighten our eyes of understanding to His plan in the hour we live in.  The church cannot afford to cast off revival and draw in apathy.  It is not time to schedule the Holy Spirit out of the services but quite the contrary: It is time to ask Him to schedule us into His plan!  Our prayer should be “revive us again oh, Lord” not “revive us when we feel like it.”  Revival is a station in the heart of the believer and this implanted desire of God to seek His face and cry out for His miraculous presence is not just a Sunday application.  This is what God wants for His church.  That she would fall in love with His Word and His Person in such a way that she would not want to do anything else but what He wants.  He wants His church to be on fire with the power, purpose, plan and potential of His presence.  Pray that revival will begin within the heart of each believer and spread across the community, which in turn will birth a renewal of love for the presence of God.
