Walking in the Spirit of God and living a life that glorifies God in all things is functioning as a believer should. (Galatians 5:16) The commitment one makes to the Lord at the entrance of Salvation is a eternal commitment. It does not end at the end of the day or when the struggle weighs heavily on the heart. Living by the Spirit and maintaining a spiritual posture during uncomfortable times is a sign of maturity. The flesh will try to due it works through you and cause you to sin and offend the Kingdom of God… The containment of the Word in your heart is a dual role. That you may not sin against God (Psalm 119:11) and also to strengthen your commitment to serve God. (Psalm 119:28) Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit and not the workings of the flesh is a goal and can be accomplished when you live in the Spirit of God. The flesh is contrary to the things of God and does not want to serve God in any way. Bringing the flesh into submission through prayer and fasting is an honorable way to continue your life in the Spirit.

Temptation will come and often times it will penetrate the will if a person has not prayed and been in the Word of God. Being nurtured through the Word and desiring to be more like Jesus throughout each day bears the attitude that Christ had. (Philippians 2:5) He served through prayer and used the Word of God, which He was and is, (John 1:1-3; Hebrews 13:8) to defeat all temptation. (Matthew 4:1-11) The Christian life is a purposed life that attains mercy and forgiveness from the Father. Who has gifted each person with Grace and Salvation. He has poured out a measure of Faith on His children and adopted them in to His family. To serve Him is a pleasure and does not cause one to fear but to love and be of sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

As you walk the walk of faith and also wait upon the Lord, your strength is renewed and God ministers to your heart as you come before Him. Knowing that He surrounds you with His love and has you in His hand give you the courage to live the Christian life in any circumstance. Making life a work for you is not up to you it is up to the Lord who has created you. Your responsibility is to love God with all your heart, strength, body and soul and to love your neighbor as you love yourself. (Matthew 22:39-41) The life of Christ in you will live through you as you continue in your commitment to His Word. His Word in you is alive and powerful and is a conquering Word through your life. There is victory in His name and that name is the one that you are called by.

Be an imitator of God and live that life of love before God and man. Setting your minds on things above (heavenly places) and not on things of this earth. (Colossians 3:1-3) Your life, the Christian life, is hid in Christ with God. The functioning Christian knows that they do not live anymore but the life that lives through them is Christ Jesus. (Galatians 2:20) Faith has gripped their heart and they live a life now that is surrendered to the will of God. Being crucified with Him and waiting to be part of the resurrection. All else is meaningless….
